Deisy is an experienced Counsellor who has gained her experience in the areas of families, children, couples, dealing with cancer, grief and loss, migration and settlement issues, incarcerated men and women, substance use, mental health, and co morbidity issues, having worked in the government and non-government sectors.

In addition to working at her private practice, Deisy currently manages the Drug and Alcohol Program in Northbridge.

Deisy understands that each client’s need for counselling is unique, therefore treatment should suit individual needs in order to achieve desired outcomes. For this reason, Deisy draws from a diverse range of therapeutic approaches including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Systemic Approach, Solution Focused Brief therapy, as well as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.

Deisy is aware of the importance of the therapeutic relationship between Client and Counsellor. She highlights authenticity (being real and present) as a key component in this relationship, as authenticity from the Counsellor invites authenticity from the client. This promotes a safe and supportive environment where the Counsellor and Client can work together towards increased self-awareness, self-growth, self-support and an enhanced wellbeing for the Client.

Medicare rebates are available for clients who are referred by a GP under the Better Access Program

Deisy is also a fluent Spanish speaker so sessions can be conducted in Spanish if required
